The Hellfish Team dominated in both Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu competitions over the weekend. First up was Jon Naji from the Chalfont gym fighting in his first Muay Thai fight at the USKA event in Philadelphia on Saturday January 20th. Sunday saw Hellfish Jiu Jitsu Brownbelts Will Weisser and Mike Olivieri competing in the FUJI sports Jiu Jitsu Open competition with Will earning Silver and Mike earning a Bronze in Gi and a Gold in NOGI.
USKA is one of the top Muay Thai and Kickboxing promotions in the country. They showcase some of the best talent in the local area along with some top national and international fighter. This past saturday, Chalfont Hellfish student Jon Naji made his Muay Thai debut in Philadelphia. He won via TKO in the second round after dropping his opponent several times with knees to the body. Jon set up the finish with an onslaught of solid straight right hands and uppercuts to the head and viscous body punches before getting to the clinch and finishing him off with hard knees to the body.
Sunday January 21st was the first FUJI Jiu Jitsu competition to be held in the area. We only had 2 of our brownbelts enter the competition, but Will Weisser came home with one Silver medal in the gi
while Mikey O came home with a bronze in the Gi and a Gold in NOGI.
Mikes son Nick also competed for the first time and came home with 3 gold medals himself.
We have a few more events coming up in the near future. First up we have Bexi Wrexi hoping to move her win streak to 2- 0 at Full Metal Fight Promotions 3rd event in Pottstown on January 27th. If February, we have the NAGA grappling tournament in Collegeville Pa on February 3rd and then Hellfish Bridgeport Saturday regular and long time training partner Tim Williams fighting in the UFC on February 18th in Austin TX.
We are all looking forward to extending the Hellfish winning streak deep into this year and into the next!
